Today marks a sad day in music history. Watching the Michael Jackson memorial on television ignited the same initial feelings of loss, sadness and shock that had surfaced the day I had found out of his passing. The entire thing still seems surreal. And while I can spend days upon days (just like anybody else) discussing the extreme loss that the world now has to endure, instead I would like to rather focus on Michael Jackson – the celebrated artist, musical genius and style icon.

From his use of metallic’s and military inspired clothes to his love for grommets and wearing one glove, Michael Jackson embodied a fashion style too original to be duplicated by anyone else. So although we all had to say goodbye to a much loved artist today, the spirit of his music, the soul of his goodwill and the individual fashion statements will always live on.
