Although Nyla Noor was recently born as a company, its story began three decades ago with the birth of a sisterhood.

Sisters and founders Saifra and Romaana Zia were born and raised in Scarsdale, New York. As children they developed their intense love for fashion while frolicking up and down Manhattan's Fifth Avenue near their parents' showroom, in the shadows of the Empire State Building. Their parents designed, manufactured, and distributed luxury handbags and accessories to stores such as Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, whetting their voracious appetites for all things sartorial.

As adults, both Saifra and Romaana began their careers on Fashion Avenue before detouring through Wall Street. Among the sea of black suits in a world of finance, they set themselves apart by accessorizing with panache, most notably with their latest arm candy. However, they realized that all beautiful handbags are not created equal, and envisioned creating high quality, modern handbags that are also responsibly sourced. With this dream, the sisters created Nyla Noor.

Representing the spirit of hopes and dreams, Nyla (meaning Winner, Achiever) and Noor (meaning Light) are the names the women have hand picked for the daughters they one day dream to have. Nyla Noor picks up where Saifra and Romaana's parents left off, evolving the luxury handbag for the next generation.
